To be misunderstood?

Hey all! I know it's been a while since I blogged. I actually have a post in the making based on a previous event but that will have to wait.
LONG POST AHEAD

So today I went back to volunteer at the Community Centre and the two kids I was talking about were also there today.
I'm gonna replace names now because I don't really want to name names but if you read the other post, you can work it out.

The day consisted of Movie Trivia, Party Games, Outdoor Games and a Scavenger Hunt and after Lunch we went to the cinema to watch a movie.
I was put in Group 1 with C and J because I apparently was good with J one of days in the last program so I spent half the day with them. I expected them to be there today but this time Mikayla, who is really good with the both of them, was also in the group so it really wasn't bad at all.

So anyway, The day went along pretty good with C being just a little disruptive in the Movie Trivia and J being amazing the whole day through.
Things started going a little pear-shaped when we went for the movies though.

Before I talk about that, I just wanna say, it is NOT easy bringing kids to go watch a movie. The kids were allowed to choose their own movie from the choices
The Smurfs
Spy Kids 4
The Zookeeper

We had 45 kids in total. 4 signed up for Zookeeper, 13 for Spy Kids and 28 for Smurfs.
I got put into the group watching Smurfs which was fine by me because I was expecting to see that today anyway. ahaha
Anyway, we each got assigned to a few kids and were responsible for them. I had 5 in mine. When we got to the cinemas, I we were a little confused because the kids had money for snacks and we weren't sure how to go about letting them do that. So imagine just like 45 kids around the cinema with us going... WHAT ARE WE DOING NOW?!
But we got that sorted out quite quickly and went in to get seats and whatnot. From there it was a bit smoother and we just enjoyed the movie. The kids watching the Smurfs did anyway. From what I heard, the other movies were alright too

P/S The Smurfs is a pretty okay film. Don't have high expectations of it and it turns out decent. Definitely a good kids' move though

So anyway, back to where things went pear shaped. The kids watching Spy Kids 4 finished earlier than us to they had some time to kill after. C decided that it would be a good time to pull a runner and ran off away from their group. Emma managed to grab hold of him with him resisting a fair bit. Sam (Another leader) stepped in to help but ended up getting bitten and kicked by C. We were still in the movies when this happened so hearing all this when we came out made me go... Woah... Calm down.

Anyway, when we boarded the bus, I was going to sit in front of Kayla and Jarrod (My friends) only to find that one of the seat were taken by C. I asked if it was okay to sit next to him and I got a really angry NO. Didn't want to try further.

A girl then passed by that empty seat and was told to sit there so she did. C obviously did NOT like that this proceeded:

C: "You're not sitting here"
Girl: "I was told to sit here"
C: "NO" *Pulls down on the girl's bag's strap*

This obviously called for an intervention. I tried to pry his hands loose from the strap while Jarrod helped. You would not believe how strong that kids is. It is ridiculous. Anyway, we got that sorted out and calmed him down a tad bit. Left him alone there till we got back.

When we arrived, Jarrod gave him C a gentle poke on the arm and that seem to have aggravated him a fair bit. He actually lashed out at Jarrod and tried to hit him. I intervened and almost got a punch to the face. He stopped after a short while and proceeded to get off the bus. It was something I was NOT expecting. Earlier in the day, during the outdoor games, I actually had a pretty good 10 minute-ish chat with him. Granted it may have been because I was giving him a piggyback ride but it was just so different comparing those two situations together.

When his mum arrived, she got told what happened today and all of us that actually experienced the things he did were asked to go into the office with C, his mum and the centre's supervisor (Manager?)
He proceeded to get told off for what he did and his mum made him apologize to all of us before sending him out to the other room to wait.
His mum also told us a bit about how C was like in school and the things she did for him. After that, they left and the leaders had a debriefing of the day's events and apparently C has NEVER been so angry and bad before. He was always cheeky but never raging. We sorta just talked about his situation for a few minutes.

It was that point that got me thinking...
How difficult it must be for the parents AND the kids to have to experience something like that.
I actually have no idea parents cope with it. They try to do SO much to help their child and it doesn't always work out. When C's mum was talking, I could tell that she was feeling very upset about the whole thing but she was upset because she cared. She cared for her son and really wanted the best for him.

And for the kid. It must be just as bad if not worse. This might not be valid because we don't know to what extent he would feel it but if it was me, I'd definitely feel really bad. Anyway, all the following is just speculation but it really was food for thought for me.

Because he is known to be a bit of a troublemaker, not many kids actually go up and talk to him. Those who do don't spend that much time with him. The leaders also just let him do his own thing so he doesn't get much attention from us. Well, Mikayla talks to him really well sometimes and the rest of us pretty much just try to get him to join the different activities.
We were saying during the debriefing that his raging today might have been because his brother is able to make friends and make conversation quite easily so he could have been jealous and thought how unfair it was?

What are the odds that he is being a troublemaker to get attention? Maybe if we spoke to him more things could be better?
The issue with that though is that I have actually tried making conversation with him. It's not easy. It is actually pretty difficult to get his attention. Maybe I wasn't trying hard enough and gave up too soon? After today, I know it IS possible to have a good conversation with him.
It's probably not easy for him to grasp why things are the way it is. He might be doing everything he thinks is right but we think is wrong. I dunno. Things like that are just so complicated.
HUMAN BRAIN Y U NO EASIER TO UNDERSTAND?!

Maybe I am thinking it through too much. Listening to C's mum's story and thinking about the whole thing from C's perspective really just made me think a fair bit.
I don't know about you guys, but I constantly complain about there being so much homework or there are so many things to do but I guess I never actually realise that there are people who face MUCH bigger problems in life.

I really would like to replay today and see how things would have developed if I tried harder with communicating with C. He was supposed to go on the trip next Friday to Philip Island with the centre but after today, he can't go for that anymore. (Actually, even I am not confirmed to be going because not many kids signed up for that. I really want to go though!)

I can't really find other opportunities to talk to C because I am not helping out any other days this holidays due to exams and the next holidays I will be in Malaysia so I won't be there either.
Sorry for the really really long and wordy post but I felt like I really had to share those thoughts with you guys.
Never have I thought that I would be thinking about things like that. I knew before that I wanted to do volunteer work but these 2 brothers and my experiences at the Centre have really made me think to work with children when I have the time.

I really want to see if I can be a friend to kids like that but I don't think I have the training or time to attempt something like that now. It's definitely something that I will add to my To-Do list for the future. I have no idea how I would start something like that off but with a bit of research I think it would be fine.
I'll have lots of time to think of things to do with this topic after exams. Even if I don't end up using it, I think learning about things like that can really improve a person's character.
Well, right now I just need to focus on doing my exams so that's that.
Such an insightful day this has been...

Fun filled!

Right... So I haven't been blogging much.
Maybe it's because of the expectations I have on a blogpost.
I try to make it deep/meaningful or filled with fun content to read.
Probably should just post something every so often. ahaha

Also, with the 365/2, it's pretty dead. I have what I need to post for each day I am missing and I have taken photos each day but just been WAY too lazy to upload them. BAD!

But anyway, this month is gonna be pretty exciting.
I have got:

A free breakfast to attend
Starting a job
2 parties to attend-Which clash with my job nights :(
Results for mid year government exams coming out on the 8th
Rotary dinner on the 16th
School council on the 23rd
University applications to complete
A speech to deliver to the Governor, teachers and International students from across the state.

I haven't even written up a speech for that last thing yet. In fact, I don't even know what I am going to talk about.

And to add on to that, I got lots and lots of tests and work scattered throughout the month. I only do 4 subjects this year compared to the usual 5 that people do and I still seem like I don't have enough time D:
WHY DOES TIME PASS SO FAST?!

Or maybe just plain..WHY AM I SO LAZY?!
I'm on top of my work but I could be SO much more productive if I wasn't this bad.
Well, I should probably get to work then. Stupid consistency thing. If it only there weren't silly assignments and SACs littered all over the place...
I actually cannot wait till I am done this year.

My plan is actually going to be Work for monehs, do some volunteer work and spend the rest of my time playing video games 8D
I just help my cousins set up their Band Hero on the Wii and I suck at it. Determined to be able to play it by the end of this year. ahahah

This was taken some time back but the sky was pretty :D

Adios amigos!

YOU MEDDLING KIDS!!!! *shakes fist*

As bad as the title is, the kids I worked with today were an overall good bunch.
There's a holiday program going on for kids at the community centre and they needed volunteers to help look after the kids because they can't afford to actually hire so many people. It's the holidays so I thought why not. All I would do is just procrastinate my work anyway so why not do something different.

It's funny how I love working with kids in situations like this but can't stand some of them during other times. It was a very fun day though. No doubt about that.

Got to the community centre at 8.15 am but we were supposed to meet at 8.30. The bus times didn't fit out right but what was 15 minutes wait anyway.
Usually it would have been fine but it was bitterly cold this morning and standing outside waiting was no fun at all. My friend Tim came a bit after and two other volunteers Alyssa and Jon arrived after him. The person in charge of the day, Lindy, arrived about 8.30 and we got to wait in the warmth. Emma (Another helper) showed up shortly after.

Both Tim and I got our hands on a reasonably warm vest with the words "Leader" on the back and it was a pretty good vest too. All the volunteers were leaders but there weren't enough vests to go around for Alyssa and my other friend, Jarrod who came late. We got briefed on what we were doing for the day and that a kid with Asperger's was coming today. They told us how to handle him and that his little brother did not have Asperger's even though he acts like he does because he mimics his brother. Parents started to drop their kids off early. They were supposed to be there between 9-9.30 but they started coming around 8.45

Brought them into the indoor basketball court/hall and they played with the balls for a bit while the 4 of us awkwardly stand around looking at how the other 3 leaders interacted with the kids.
Pass a few balls to a few kids and tried to make conversation but they were not liking the new guy. hahaha
When all the kids were accounted for, the 4 of us were properly introduced and we went out to run around a bit while waiting for the people to set up the orienteering course. Out on the field, I managed to talk to a few kids and they actually responded. HUZZAH! heh
After a few round of "Ice and Water" (Different name here), we headed back inside in pairs and this kid, Flinn, comes up to me and chose me. Was a cute moment, was all like "I want you to be my partner!" Had a little chat with him on the way in and then they sat down to wait for the orienteering to start.

While waiting, we played a game to see if the kids could guess the leaders' favourite food. When it came to me, they were all like "RICE!" "SUSHI!" "NOODLES!" "JAPANESE FOOD!" "VIETNAMESE FOOD!"
In my mind I was going.. Seriously?! SERIOUSLY?! But of course we had to play nice so I just went "hahah.. no etc"
I thought I would keep it simple and chose "Chocolate" but no one got it. Which was weird seeing as it came out so many times for the other leaders. Darn stereotyping!

Anyway, we started with the first activity and the younger kids were sent off to make a paper compass while the older kids stayed with Alyssa, Emma and I. There was a giant compass made in the hall with cones that signify a point on the compass and the kids had to run to that point when one of us yelled it out. The first time round it was alright but then we had to play it again a second time while waiting for the younger kids and you can tell they were bored.

We had to repeat the whole game with the younger kids who came in from their other session. Only this time the 4 of us newbies had to run it ourselves as Emma had to go off somewhere. It wasn't too bad except for this kid...

Jesse (He had a pretty cool hairstyle for a freaking 5 year old). The kid with the brother (Cody) who unfortunately had Asperger's. He actually made me chase him around the entire hall while he runs off with the cones. This kid can run. Caught him eventually with him squirming all over the place and Jarrod put him in the naughty corner where he actually just sat there. No running around. Of course, Jarrod did threaten him by saying he would call Jon over (Who is really good at dealing with this kid)
I was talking with Jarrod about Jesse at the end of the day and because we might see him another 2 more times next week, we are going to try to "drill" some discipline/sense into him. hahahaha

Anyway, the session went alright and we only had to do it once because the older kids came back quite quickly since they were only looking at how to use a compass. Right after that they were split into groups and sent off to find clues hidden around the community centre. UTTER. CHAOS.
If someone were to walk in at that time, they would be so freaked out by the kids running all over the place. We leaders had to make sure they weren't going into places out of bounds or being silly so there was a bit of movement involved for us too. Jesse and his brother came up with a bit of mischief by ripping a sign or two out but we were there to save the day! (SO LAME!)

Ahem... The hunt was quickly finished and we moved on to snack/free time while the kids just played random stuff. Went to a few different kids and spoke to them about the last activity and then moved on to the science experiments. There were 5 different ones:
Optical illusion- Looking at different optical illusions and talking about it

Tea Rocket and Expanding toothpicks- Not sure about this but it resulted in the column of paper with the tea leaves burning down to nothing then rises to the top and the toothpicks were bent in a way that made it expand to look like a star when water was added.

Slime- Making slime with PVA glue and stuff

Sealed bag (or something like that)- Fill a zip lock bag with water and see how many skewers you can poke through without water dripping out from the holes

Some water+spring thing- Not sure with this but the thing bounces up cause of the spring.

I got stuck with the boring optical illusions. It was hard getting the kids to focus on what was in the optical illusions. So just did a quick 5 minute session with them and let them trace/draw/create their own optical illusion. Wasn't very science-y in my opinion but it was over quite quickly. They were rotating in groups so we didn't have to worry about too many kids at once. We then moved back to the hall to wait for lunch to be served.
Jesse fell over at around this time and was sorta just being sad and depressed by himself in a corner so I went over to ask him what happened and apparently someone pushed him down by accident. You can tell he wasn't feeling happy or particularly good because he was quiet and actually wanted a hug from someone. It was weird to see a kid like him get so down like that. Lunch was served and he was well on his feet again and ran towards the line. That kid. hahaha

We had lunch (Hot dogs!) and then just sorta sat around for a bit. Talked to a few more kids with some bumping into things and hurting themselves. Played "I Spy" with Olsen before getting called to assemble for the last activity.
The last activity is "Crafty Afternoon" where they basically just make heaps of stuff. As you all may know, I am not flash with my art skills so this afternoon was like LOLWHAT?! for me. I tried nonetheless :P

They split into three groups where 1 large group went to do "Enviro-blocks" which was making stuff with those stuffings you find in packaging but coloured. It was made of corn starch apparently. Pretty interesting. I got asked to help run it with Alyssa (She is a Graphics Uni student). Found myself helping this kid who had hearing difficulties, Bailey. He was a great guy. He cut himself with the plastic knife (Which was surprisingly sharp) and did not complain one bit. Just put a bandaid on and moved on. I helped him cut everything else after that though. No more knife for him!
Jesse was working on the same table as well and he was actually behaving like an angel. Apparently he really loved Arts and Craft so he was really into it. His brother however was not that engaged so instead of letting him disrupt everyone, Lindy set him in her office and let him play with her iPhone.
I was pretty much helping with Bailey's table while Alyssa managed 3 other tables. To be fair, it was her strong point and majority of the kids in the room didn't need help.

After a bit, the kids who did Enviro-blocks were allowed to go do Arts and Craft or make a heat pack. While the other two group went into Enviro-Blocks. Tim came to help Alyssa so I moved on to the Arts and Craft room. Helped Bailey again along with a few other kids. It's surprising how much I could help out with even though I suck in the Arts department. Heh
A kid, Keira, made one of these for each of the leaders which I think was really sweet. :D

After a while, I just started wandering from room to room to see how things were. The kids were basically just moving about from room to room as well so it was alright. Folded stars during my "patrol" and gave it to kids who passed by. hahaha

The kids then gathered in the Main Hall while we just cleaned the rooms up and organised things. Parents came to pick up their child and that was that. I think I made some new friends today! WOOOO :D

All in all, a wonderful experience. Do not regret volunteering for this at all and looking forward to my other one more, possibly two, volunteer day(s) next week.
A day well spent indeed.
Thanks for reading! hahaha

Till the next post. Cya!

Mewzicx

I am so in love with this cover. Her other songs are amazing too.
Destorm is pretty good as well

I find myself listening to people on YouTube more than mainstream singers these days. I do listen to mainstream songs as well but the singers on YouTube just sound so much better. Especially those without gimicky Autotune and when it IS used, it just feels right.

Another song I have been smashing replay is this one

I love the chorus.

Okay.. My little "fangirly" episode about songs on YouTube is over.
Back to chemistry.

As a side note, there are just THAT many more people on my "Must meet" list. hahaha

'Tis OVER!

Hey all! Sorry for that emo post back then. I always have to go through this emo stage before I finally see the light.

It's always darkest before dawn yea? :P

So I'm a bit freer now. Mid years are over and I've got a bit of time to relax now before my onslaught of studies and assignments start next week and during the holidays.
In the absence, nothing particularly interesting happened but I guess I can bore everyone with the details anyway.

Last Saturday I was asked to go help out at a store and teach little kids (and some adults hahah) how to play the Pokemon card game. It was a good day. Got tons of freebies and paid somewhat. Now I;ve been asked to go back every second Saturday if I can to help out more. So it's like a semi-job. In the sense that I am actually putting out effort to get something in return (Sadly not in the form of cash) and I can go in whenever I want (Probably once a month)

I might not be getting paid much (or even at all) but at least it's some experience interacting with people and it can go into my resume for customer service! hahaha
And it's a fun way to burn Saturdays away. Of course, with schoolwork being a pain it might not work out if I go every second Saturday but once a month sounds reasonable. I mean it's like from 12-4.30 so I need to leave my house around 10.45 to get to the city and get back around 6. So that's 7 hours of a whole month gone but hey, I was a good kid the last time I went and brought work to do on the train so I think it's alright. heh

As I said earlier, I had exams this week. Just Bio and Chem so it wasn't too bad. The way they ask questions are completely different to Malaysia though. Instead of just testing you on how much you know, they test you to see if you can apply the knowledge as well. Tricky.
I bombed my Chemistry Multiple Choice section quite badly but hopefully the Short Answer Section will help me scrape through an A at least (Although I want an A+ quite badly but I'll settle for an A)

With Bio, it was indifferent. I did like 5 practice exams the day before and managed to get A+ for all of the which gave me a much needed confidence boost for bio. Managed to complete the exam but the questions asked were very weird and it didn't feel like anything I have done before.

Not settling for anything under A+ for Bio though. It needs to be my strong subject seeing as I want to do something Bio related for Uni (Either Biotech or Microbiology cause the recent work we did on the immune system was rather interesting.. and somewhat easy to understand hahaha)

Anyway, the day before the Bio exam the Assistant Principle called me and asked me to do a tour for some International student Agents and sell the school basically. She said because I was an International Student and the School Captain it would leave a good image and this that and everything else.
So I did the tour and stuff and was rewarded by a pretty good lunch full of omnom desserts.
I should start working for cash rather than all these other benefits :P

I'm probably thinking ahead of myself but I cannot wait for this year to be over because:
1) Get to go to Uni next year! I need to move on. Enough schooling for me :|

2) Probably look for a part time job to earn some cash to spend in Malaysia or save up for next year. Considering how good the exchange rate is.. 1 hour's work could get me like RM 32. CHA CHING!

3) I GET TO GO BACK TO MALAYSIA!!! Cannot wait to see everyone again.

4) Because I only get to work 20 hours a week here due to visa clauses, I was thinking of finding some volunteer program and experience something different. Since I would have so much time on my hands, why not use it to help some other people out?

So yea.. Completely pumped for 17th November. The last day of my exams. Sucks that it's at 3pm though and it's English. I have to wait all the way till 5.15pm till I can be totally free. Sigh...

But that's for the future, gotta focus on the task at hand now. Should probably go do some Maths for my test next week but me no like it anymore :(
Meh.. I'll do it later.

NB: I will do it though. I have to and want to because I need to score good marks for this test. Got only 55% the last one and I need to boost my average up.
On the plus side... 28/30 for an English Folio that I despised doing and kept putting it off. AWWWYEA!

Till the next post

Dilemmas

You know that feeling when you really want to vent to someone but you don't know who to turn to?
Or when you feel like you can open to someone and share things with you and they react the complete opposite to what you were thinking?

What if they were right? It's my life though right? I should be able to decide how I live it? But then what if the other option was the "better" one? What do you do then? Even if you enjoyed doing what you did.

Decisions and life are so confusing.

Makes things so difficult sometimes.

But maybe that's just me and I am just too weighed down from all the little things and they just added up and affected my view on life- Being very mindful of what other people say just cause I'm afraid I would mess up and not choose the "right" decision because I want to do the other one.

Of Camp Shenanigans

Got back from Year 12 Camp about 2.5 hours ago.
It was amazing. So much happened with an amazing group of people and lots of fun.
The weather was brilliant. Not too cold but not too hot. No rain and very fresh!
I'm gonna go day by day of everything that happened so yes. This will be a long post.
Photos will have to wait till I can get it off teachers and some people.
I will edit this post or make a new one with pictures once I get them

DAY 1 (16/03/2011)
Got to school around 8.15 am. We were supposed to be there by 8 but we were only leaving at 8.30 so it wasn't that big of an issue.
Met up with some people, looked around at how much people were bringing for a 3 day camp and got our names marked off. The buses were late so we didn't actually leave until a bit past 9.

The ride there was alright. Talked a bit, played the iPhone a bit, enjoyed the scenery and we were there. It wasn't that long. The place looks amazing. It's a pretty hilly place surrounded by trees and obstacle courses/facilities all over the place. Got our stuff off the bus and waited around till we got sorted out into our tents/cabins. Cabins had like 12-16 people in theme while tents have 6. The tents are all lined up together and it's like a nice community/get together place outside with a building with a mini kitchen and TV so that's pretty cool. I got a tent with 5 other people cause cabins were filled up pretty quickly. There weren't enough tents so they had to put some small ones up at a place away from the other tents.

After getting organised, we went to the lodge where we meet up and have meals and whatnot. Listened to a bit of an intro and a bit about setting goals.
The guy we had was pretty funny but got a bit long winded in the end. He went on about "shopping" and how we bleed time etc. It would make more sense if you heard it.
Then we were split into 2 groups. Half of us had to stay back and fill out forms for Year 12 while the other half went for Orienteering then we swap spots. I got to do the Orienteering first which was good cause we were sitting down for so long running around was really good. Went with Nicole, Bridgit and Tiffany and what a funny team it was. We were given a map that was marked with different sites where we had to go there and find this stamper thing which was cleverly hidden.
For a few of the stampers, we had to run into the forest areas and because Nicole was the good one with maps, she led the way. We soon found out she wasn't THAT good cause she made us go the bike track way, up hills and slopes instead of the nirmal trekking path. Durr
We didn't have time to find all of them but we got 10/12 so i think that's pretty decent. After that we had to fill up the forms and then we had time to chill before dinner.

Dinner was surprisingly really good. LASAGNA AND GARLIC BREAD!Cheesecake for dessert. And we were allowed seconds! hahaha
Anyway after dinner, my group (Group 2) was on duty for clean up. The others had like 30-40 minutes free time while we had to do the dishes and wipe down the tables. It was actually really fun doing them. We had to first rinse out the dishes and bowls then stack them along with cups, jugs and cutlery onto these trays to put in the dishwasher. Then dry it and put it back to where they were found. We divided the job really quickly and pumped up some music and it was just fun. We did around 150 of each dishes, bowls, cutlery and cups altogether and it didn't take us that long.

About 5-10 minutes after we finished the dishes we went straight into the next activity. Trivia night. It was pretty good. Just tested general knowledge, some showbiz stuff and guessing the names of teachers whose pictures were edited horrendously. hahaha
There were 5 rounds and 3 bonus rounds which took us till about 9.30pm. Before we left we were told to look out for some car keys because a teacher has lost them. We went back to our tents/cabins and chilled a bit till 11 or so then it was lights out. We had to bring sleeping bags even though the tents/cabins (The big tents anyway) had mattresses cause there were no blankets. We were also supposed to bring a pillow but I couldn't be bothered since it was 2 nights and lugging a pillow is 'meh' so I just slept on my jacket. I didn't actually get to sleep until around 12.40 or so cause the people in the other tent were noisy.
Did I mention we had teachers around out area too? haha

DAY 2 (17/03/2011)
This day was just FILLED with stuff happening.
So I woke up at about 6.45 am to go jogging. Mr VP (PE teacher) organised morning jogs for his two PE classes to demonstrate a few things and those not in the classes were welcome to join in. Met up with Nicole half way there and then walked with the whole group to the entrance of the camp. The reason? There is this cemetery which had roads "around" it. And these roads were built on a hill. Here's a diagram:
------------
|Cemetery |
|.............. |
------------
Except that it was actually longer vertically but anyway, the vertical bits were REALLY steep slopes so what we had to do was run down the right side, and then go across and run up the other and so forth. It was bad. The slope isn't too bad until you get to the top and you just die from being out of breath. I only managed 2 laps continuous before walking down the slope but running up the next one. So you can say I did 2.5 laps. Mr VP did 4.5 laps continuously and so did some of the guys in his PE class. Yeah fit people... Finished off with some sit ups and push ups.

So anyway, we went straight to breakfast. We were not too sweaty cause it was nice and cool. Breakfast was simple, your usual toast and jams or cereal. After that we were given a bit of time to chill and then get started on activities. All the Year 12's were split into 8 groups and we had a different activity and rotated.

Groups 1+2: Goal Setting
Groups 3+4: English session
Groups 5+6: Snowy River+Snake Challenge
Groups 7+8: Bush and Cave challenge

So I started off with Goal Setting. We had a German guy and his accent was pretty funny. Too bad the stuff he talked about was boring and irrelevant. It was a pretty bad session. The only thing I picked up was that he used the phrase "For sure" constantly. At one point no one was answering the question he was asking and I was just sick of it already so I went ahead and replied. He then said I was amazing and asked for a hug. A bit awkward. Just a bit. Never gave it to him. ahahah

We had a break and during the break they announced that the teacher who lost her car keys also lost her laptop so they asked us to go back to our tent/cabin to see if we might have grabbed it accidentally. I don't know how you can do that with a laptop but anyway, we did that and all was good. They didn't suspect the students but they just did it to cover all possibilities. Those two things still missing.
With that, we went on to the next activity.

My group did the Snowy River first while Group 1 did Snakes.
The Snowy River Challenge was a team challenge and it consisted of 5 parts.
1) Walking over a log to the other side that is suspended on a small mud pit. If you fell in you start over.
2) Get over a ~2.5 meter high wall with only the help of teammates. People who were boosted over cannot boost again and can only support the other people from falling behind.
3) Walk over a wire suspended over a river. You had two ropes at the side to hang onto
4) Crawl through this man made wombat hole which had very bad smelling stagnant water
5) Swing across to the opposite platform on a rope. All members had to be on the rope before our time was taken.

Our team had 13 people and only had 3 guys but one of them (Mark) was pretty tank so we weren't too bad. We started off well with people crossing the log pretty easy. I tried and because I am so uncoordinated almost fell and managed to jump back to the start. I decided to be lame and crawl my way over. As in lying flat on the log and pulling myself across. Apart from a few stains on the clothes, it was good. According to the staff there I was the first person to do it that way and not fall over. Achievement! ahaha

We went to the wall next and blitzed right through it. Mark boosted everyone up and we supported each other real well. I, being the uncoordinated one again, got over but somehow managed to fall back on the starting side but manage to push myself back on the wall and over the other side. *cough*

The wire was a breeze and it was over before we knew it. Then it came to the wombat hole. You had to crawl into it because it was not high at all. Most points I was crawling on my hands and knees while some points I had to be in a "push up" position (To avoid getting completely drenched in the horrible water in there) while using my elbows to shimmy myself forward. The water smelled unimaginably bad and after a being in it for a bit and getting a few scrapes here and there, we ended up crawling out of the hole like zombies coming out of the ground. Tiffany broke a scab from a previous injury from her knee which caused massive bleeding and had to go get it cleaned up.

Finally we had the swinging. It was on a rope so there it swung all over the place. We bought a hint with a 2 minute penalty and aced the thing easy. We all landed on the platform easily with me landing on the butt and doing one of those Mario butt smashes. Yeah.

We ended up with the best time for the course and it felt amazing. We headed over to the next bit where we got to hold and put a python around our neck. Pretty cool.
Break for lunch. I washed my hands 4 times and the smell from the water in the hole was still there so I had to eat the NACHOS for lunch with a fork being careful not to touch it. Yes the smell was that bad. After lunch and a quick break it was on to the next activity.

My group was in the English session. Since myself and Tiffany don't do mainstream English, we didn't have to sit for the session and got free time. Well we were supposed to do stuff with Ms Campbell (Very awesome teacher) but she was happy to give us free time so that was that. We sat around and had a chat with some teachers and then went for a walk to see what the other people were doing. We went to the Snowy River challenge and a team was halfway through the Wombat hole when something happened. A guy came out of the hole in a weird way and dislocated his knee (He had a bad knee to begin with). By dislocated I mean the whole part of his leg from kneecap down got twisted to the side. It didn't sound pretty. We didn't go there to see but yeah. Ouch. The Snowy River challenge was then closed for the rest of the day while they got an ambulance to take him to the hospital. I pity the teams who didn't get to do the amazing course but not more than the guy (Luke). It was his 18th birthday the day before too.

After that, another short break and off to the last activity. We went Bush challenge first and then Cave. Bush consisted of a few parts as well.
1) Climb up this small ledge with the help of a rope.
2) Jump into a pit that is kinda deep filled with some sponge/foam. Then we have to boost each other out of it.
3) Walk across two wires with a partner. The wires were further apart as you went along so you had to support each other an move.
4) Memory game. Lift off buckets from a small poles revealing the colour underneath and if it matched the bucket was off, if not it stays on. Only a pair of people are allowed to take one bucket off per match.
5) Jigsaw puzzle.

At the start of activity 1&2 we had to hold onto a puzzle piece at the start of the activity while we get another one each after doing activity 3&4. So off we went.
First one was pretty easy. Threw the puzzle piece up to whoever who got up already and just pulled myself up. Headed off to the pit and jumped in. Boosted one person up and passed the pieces to her. Mark boosted everyone again and this time I didn't fall back. hahaha
Because we had to get the other two pieces across the wire as well, Tiff and I placed it between us and used it as our support instead. Done that pretty easily and went on to the memory game. Did that and then the staff told us that at this point there are 4 more pieces hidden around the place to find so off we went. We spent a bit of time on the puzzle cause it was quite confusing but finished it after a bit. We were 30 seconds behind the fastest team so yeah...

After that we went on to the Cave challenge. We went down this trapdoor which led us to a dark tunnel and had to find our way to a room. We went down in pairs or threes which made it pretty simple. People were hyping up this activity so I expected quite highly of it but was a bit disappointed that it was actually really short. If it was longer it would have been really good.

We had another break and then dinner. We had an early dinner at 5.30 pm consisting of rice and curry with mint yogurt. It wasn't too bad. We had an early dinner because we were doing the MONSTER COURSE at around 6.30. We were told to get changed into stuff that we wouldn't care to get dirty and wet.
So off we went and came back to meet up to have the whole course explained to us. This whole thing is again, a team challenge.

1) Swim in the really cold and dirty lake to an island in the middle, ring a bell and swim back. Then fill a bucket that has holes to a certain level with water.
2) Grab ten tyres and run to the next station. We have to be linked at all times when running to another station. We get to drop one tyre after completing a station.
3) Get 5 charades right and push yourself over a ramp
4) Throw one of the tyres we have onto a pole
5) Two ends. One end with 5 red tyres and the other with black. There is a sled in the middle and we had to place tyres on it one at a time and pull to the other side.
6) Lobster challenge. Four people have to support one person lying on their belly and that person had to pick up 15 balls scattered around an area.
7) Grab puzzle pieces and run across a mini obstacle course and place it on the other
8) As a team, collectively do 100 pushups, 100 situps, 100 star jumps, 100 squats, 100 mountain climbers
9) Go through a mud pit under a net with all members linked together with the remaining tyres we had.
10) Get frisbees and throw them across a mat and try to get the majority of one to land in the bullseye area.
11) Run to the finish point and have the whole team touch a pole to finish.

So yes.. It's a Monster course indeed. My team got to go second. I was pumped to do it.

Now this is probably one of the stupidest thing I have done in my life. Like REALLY stupid. We started off and we jumped into the lake. I FREAKING forgot to take my glasses off and didn't realise until I got to the middle of the lake. At this point the lake was really deep and I couldn't swim properly in fear of my glasses sinking to the bottom of the lake. Panicking, I suddenly started flailing for help and looked like an idiot who couldn't swim. I was holding onto my glasses so staying afloat was quite difficult as well.

The thing about that though, the thought of drowning NEVER crossed my mind. I just had the feeling that my teammates and people around me would be able to help me get out of there and within a few seconds, they did. Two teammates swam over to give support and our year level coordinator, Mr Tuck dived in to pull me back. Once I could touch land again, I got on my feet and just ran back to shore. No one laughed and they were cheering instead. I took a few seconds to shake it off and continued with the rest of the team to do the rest.

My mistake here was being an idiot and not taking my glasses off, underestimating how deep the lake was and panicking when I could have easily just swam back to shore instead of staying there.
I feel like such a retard for actually doing that but everyone makes mistakes and I am glad I got through that and experienced a tight situation.

Anyway, back to the course, we grabbed our tyres and raced off to the Charades and so forth. We had a few issues with getting the tyre on the tall pole but managed it after a few tries. The rest of the course was pretty simple but just exhausting. We got to the end and just waited around for the other teams to finish since each team started 3 minutes after the other. The sun was starting to cold down and it started getting really cold. Everyone was just shivering and you could only imagine our joy when they said we have to go do the whole thing AGAIN!

Some people were reluctant but most just did it again anyway. I didn't go rushing into the lake this time because I was just too cold to be bothered swimming. While plugging up the holes in the bucket to be filled, I still got people pouring the lake water all over me anyway so I was freaking drenched as we ran to the next station. Shivering and shouting at each other, we all pulled through and finished the whole thing all over again. Those who finished rushed straight to the showers.

Now the issue here is that there are only FOUR showers in the tent are where there are like 60 guys. I was one of the few first to finish but there was already a line. So I decided to sneak on down to the toilets at the place we meet up because there are two showers there as well. Bumped into Mr Tuck along the way and had a quick chat about what happened. Just a bit embarrassing. haha
He was headed towards the showers there as well and when we walked in, there were already 3 others in front of us. 2 showering and one in the line. There were only two showers there so we waited. Anyway, main thing is showered without too much hassle of being in a long line. The line at the toilet near the tents was so long that some people ended up just using the hose outside the toilet to clean up.

After that we were invited to some really good chocolate cake and muffins for dessert at the lodge(where we meet). At this time it was probably like 9-ish so we had around 2 hours to just mingle around. Talked to a few people then went back to the tents area to see a few more people around there along with some teachers so more chatting occurred. At this point, a cabin was pumping up songs REAL loud and they were pretty much having a party in there with a few teachers so it was pretty hilarious. I would have gone had I actually known about it at that time :/ Just not cool enough. Then again, it's not like EVERYONE was there so I can't be too uncool right? xD
Off to bed a bit past 11 and slept like a pig this time. It was SO comfortable. I woke up once and wondered why I was and because it was so comfy in the sleeping bag I thought I was like back home or something. It was really warm in the cool night air. A great sleep.

IT'S FRIDAY, FRIDAY, GOTTA GET DOWN ON FRIDAY!
*cough* Right. (Check out the song if you haven't. It's so bad it is hilarious)

I was going to wake up for another morning run but was sleeping WAY too well to be bothered :P
We were woken up around 7.50 am to get ready for breakfast (Which is at 8 lol) and found out when we went down there that breakfast today was at 8.30 and we had to pack up our stuff and bring it down before we had breakfast so off we went. Did all that and sat down for breakfast. PANCAKES!!! Omnomnom

During breakfast we got some really good news. Ms Sainsbury, the one who lost her keys and laptop, has found them! Apparently it was stashed in a secret drawer in her room and forgotten about it. We had a good laugh about it and she helped with the dishes for breakfast for causing the inconvenience. Good times.
A quick break after we headed off to meet for the final activities for camp. They all involve some sort of height in them and involved harnesses. What they had were:

* Flying Fox- Self explanatory

* Tightwire- Two people walk on a wire like a tight rope, meet in the middle and sorta let go of the harness rope. Not too sure

* Skybridge- Suspended over the lake, two people cross it from either side and passing each other in the middle. The tricky bit is that the planks are not very wide but they are wide apart.

* Rock Climbing- Different levels of it

* Leap of Faith- You jump off this ledge and try to grab and hold onto a bar. Then you try to get you legs hooked onto the bar and then straighten your legs and free fall with a guy handling the rope to so that he stops you in time. Worse case you land on a mattress. If you don't get the bar, you just fall. ahaha

* Summit Window- Go WAY high up and climb up this pole with steps to a really small platform. You then lean back and let go of the pole then proceed to tilt even more to a 45 degree angle.

* Giant Swing- Two people are hooked onto this wire where it is connected to a rope via a "key" and people down there pull so that you get pulled back (like a slingshot)
and then at the highest point, you release the "key" and go swinging like mad.

* "Something" Ladders- Not too sure about this one. Couldn't get it.

We got to do one of those activities, a quick break for doughnuts and then move on to another one. I did the Giant Swing and then the Summit Window and luckily still had time to fit in a quick Leap of Faith.
The Giant Swing was amazing, it was like riding a roller coaster. The first few drops felt so weird but it got okay after a while. The Summit Window was nice cause the view was great and it was simple to do but tilting back on a 45 degree angle was a little tough without feeling like you were going to fall over. As for the Leap of Faith, I managed to grab the bar but couldn't hold on and fell pretty awkwardly. Oh well, at least I tried.

So after a lunch of Hamburgers and some closing words, we hopped on the bus for the drive back. It's quite sad that it's all over. These past three days have been phenomenal. I learned and experienced a lot. So many inside jokes were created on this camp and it feels good to be part of it. I am so glad I had the opportunity to go.
The only bad thing about camp was the terrible drinking water. It tasted really bad and I almost puked just using it to brush my teeth. Thank god for bottled water and having friends bring them :P Oh and orange juice. Lots of it.

This year is going to be good. Bring it Year 12!

*If you actually read through all that I commend you and thank you so much. Only took me like 2 hours or so to type it all up. ahahah
Ciao!

Redemption

I apologize for the previous emo post. Was being a bit over with it.

Finally cleared things up and it's all good.
It's funny cause it really wasn't that big of a deal but it just seemed like it when it
happened.

Ah well, that's another episode closed. Time to move on.

On another note, I have to go for Year 7 camp on Tuesday (Just for a day)
Cause they want some of the school leaders there for some reason so I get to miss school :P
PHILIP ISLAND! FUN CAMP! ahahaha

And then I have Year 12 camp from Wednesday to Friday. And today (Monday) is a public holiday. Some week of school this week will be :P

I'll see if I have the motivation to update about camp when I return along with that past event which happened like a month ago.
Cheers!

So after going through quite possibly, one of the worst hours ever for me so far...

I am so tempted to just contradict my last blog post and forget it but I should know that nothing's going to change if I do that. I should remember what happened and why it happened.

Though in doing that, it means there are some changes that I am going to have to make and I really am not looking forward to it.

I don't know how this is gonna go down the rest of the year.
I really did not need all that this year.

But oh well, it's life. Just gotta suck it up and move on.
It's going to be a bloody interesting year indeed.
